E. Roger Mitchell é natural de Miami, Flórida. Ele recebeu um B.A. em Inglês e Drama pela Claflin University, turma de 1993. Roger foi nomeado no Who's Who Between Americas Colleges and Universities em 1992. Ele então continuou sua educação no Alliance Theatre Professional Actor Internship e mais tarde obteve o mestrado em Belas Artes em Atuação pela CUNY Brooklyn (City University of New York), turma de 1999.
