Preston Monongye

Preston Monongye was a Hopi artist and silversmith who won awards for his paintings, sculptures and jewelry. He was a proponent of what he called "the new Indian art," which respected the traditions of the past while not being bound to them. He was a member of a religious group called the Katsina Society.
