Miep's friend tells her that a shop owner was shot and killed by the Nazis after he defended some Jewish customers that the Nazis were harassing.

In the first episode, Miep is shown to enjoy dancing and drinking with her friends.

The first episode begins with Miep taking Margot Frank to the hiding place ahead of the rest of the family due to Margot receiving deportation papers. It becomes very intense when they arrive at a Nazi checkpoint and Margot starts to panic.

Miep and Jan have a fight about Miep agreeing to help the Frank family before informing Jan. He shouts at her to the point where she begins to cry and cries out, "Stop yelling at me!" They make up soon after.
