Each year the What Matters? Competition, run by the Whitlam Institute asks the question to students in years 5 to 12 across NSW and the ACT: "Tell us what matters to you in 400-600 words?" The competition is inspired by former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam's determination to involve the people of Australia in shaping the nation's future.
