The Kabane are very deformed and scary looking, they are also very brutal and vicious.

A young man performs a very painful procedure to prevent himself from turning into a Kabane. He presses a red hot piece of metal on the bite, attaches a tornequet to his arm with rivets, and then chokes himself for a prolonged period of time before the infection leaves. He survives, but passes out from the pain.
