Both seasons feature kinetic science-fiction action in-between some of the more down-to-earth moments of the characters' daily lives.

Both the English dub and the English-translated Japanese dialogue feature words such as "damn", "hell", "ass" and "bastard" being used with varying amounts of frequency. Miss Shikijo utters "oh, shit" once in season one's English dub.

Miss Shikijo is a heavy alcoholic, seen partaking in large amounts of various intoxicating beverages including vodka, wine, champagne, beer and sake (Japanese wine culled from rice grains).

The second season contains some rather dark thematic elements in its final episodes.
