A married character has an affair with another woman.

The most disturbing scene is the amputation of a characters big toe. Briefly seen, nothing heard, but still gross.

Characters are forced to put down their own dogs and cats.

The typical British cursing: damn, bloody, bastard, etc. Nothing too serious.

Lots of drinking, and lots and lots of smoking. Smoke is clearly seen inhaled and exhaled through the mouth or nose. Still, nothing unheard of for it's time (1914).

Lots of tense scenes, including a sinking ship, a dangerous boat ride in a storm, a near mutiny, and the ominous sound of cracking ice.
