Six teams of three mismatched racers (Fifth Wheel: a couple and one's ex; The Castaways: two former Survivors and a Temptation Island veteran; Forbidden Fruit: two Playboy Playmates and a seminary student; Alpha Gamma Grandma: two frat guys and a grandmother; Hog Wild: two rednecks and an Ivy League preppy girl; Hip Hop with Pop: two rappers and a rap-hating firefighter) race souped up cars from New York to Santa Monica for a top prize of $100,000.
