The show uses the Battlestar Galactica narrative structure of a group of people escaping destruction and fleeing to Earth, only to be pursued by their attackers. In the case of Vifam, it's a group of up to 13 children, which includes a few teenagers. As such, the scenario is a lot more intense and the kids are often in peril and facing constant death.
