The crime scenes always involve some form of violence and is always presented in a disturbing, violent manner. This series is frequently gory, bloody and violent.

One killer cuts the faces off his victims. We see the faces of the victims in the killers house in strong gory graphic detail.

In the earlier episodes (up until evolution) almost all of the really brutal or graphic violence is off screen the level of on screen violence varies each episode ranging from none to strong bloody and or graphic such as dismemberment or blood and muscle matter when people get shot some of the TV 14 rated episodes can get close to the TV MA line.

A large variety of murders are shown, as are the resulting dead bodies. The bodies vary in gore from episode to episode, as does the amount of blood, but is always very violent. Some cases are more violent, but still always very violent, than others. These can range from kidnapping, robberies, fires, explosions, home invasions, and even ritualistic cases.

Some uses of language such as "hell," damn," "ass," "piss," and "bitch." Only in Season 16 are words such as "fuck," "shit," "goddamn," and "asshole," spoken by characters. This is because Season 16 aired on Paramount+ rather than CBS.

The Criminal Minds: Evolution are much more graphic and disturbing in their depictions of crimes being happened than the original seasons. Rather than cutting away right before victims are killed, they are shown in detail.

The entire series is extremely disturbing, brutally violent, suspenseful and extremely intense. It deals with all sorts of viscerally horrible criminals of all shapes and sizes, including serial killers with double-digit kills, serial rapists with double-digit victims, James Bond-style supervillains, or the rare triple-digit killer, all of whom commit an assorted variety of gruesome crimes. Worst of all is that all of these crimes actually happened in real-life.
