The language is heavily watered down in this adaptation due to FCC regulations (as it aired on a basic cable channel, MTV). All uses of 'Fuck' and 'Shit' are bleeped, and some lines are watered down completely, with the UK's famous "Bus Wanker" line changed to "Bus Turd" in this version.

Why?

The character "Jay Cartwright" forcefully kisses a 13-year-old girl, who tries to make him stop, he keeps doing it until the girl runs off and it's revealed that she bled on the carpet because Jay Cartwright caused her to have her first period. Very disturbing
