A young man is brutally and graphically tortured for years on end by a princess who believes she can because he's just a peasant. After he heals the world and goes back 4 years, he vows revenge on all of those who have wronged him. This is viewed by many as being too extreme for television and the large part of the manga and anime community were shocked that it was being made into an anime based on those factors.
