Briefly, a dirty man with darkened skin, indicating non-graphically that it is burnt, is seen sitting in the background. He is later confirmed dead. It is unclear if he was already dead at the time he was shown on screen. It is equally unclear in the source graphic novel.

Official English subtitles contain no cursing. Native Japanese contains a term literally translating to "idiot," which culturally is as rude as a curse within Japanese, but not in other languages.

Adult characters are infrequently seen smoking.

Some of the bombing scenes are quite loud and intense. The images and references to tragedy are normally done in a subtle matter.
