The only shot of gore is when someone strikes Blake in the head. For a moment, his outer skin is removed revealing green goo and maggots.

Although there are violent murders committed by ghost pirates, there is almost no blood seen in the entire movie.

An elderly babysitter opens the door of the house, and several ghosts suddenly pull her into the fog. Nothing else is shown, but it is very obvious that the ghosts killed her.

A man is stabbed by a ghost with a metal spike. It is only seen in silhouette, and no blood is visible either.

Three men on a boat are stabbed to death. Only one death is onscreen. The man is impaled by a sword, a hook, and then stabbed with a knife. Although it is onscreen and very intense, no blood or gore is seen.

When the ghosts attack, sometimes an incredibly loud sound effect that resembles spewing steam will play. Throughout the movie boat horns repeat, raising the anxiety level for some viewers.
