Joyce has a reaction when Edward cuts her hair. She moans lightly, and curls her toes.

Jim and Kim share a suggestive relationship, as they go camping together (no parental figure) and at one point, Jim tells Edward to warn if Kim's mom is coming. He says this as he and Kim head to her bedroom.

Edward's appearance is mostly black with black leather, messy hair, pale face with a few scratch marks, and scissor blades for fingers. But he is harmless, gentle and likeable.

The tone of the movie overall is melancholy and somewhat dark.
