The theme of the film is intense and emotional. The impact is hightened by the fact it is all based on real historical events.
Militamen act in a threatening manner against civilians and the main characters of the movie.
Disturbing imagery pervades the film, notably images of dead bodies. In one protracted scene, a road is seen covered in corpses and characters have to move them in order to advance with vehicules. In another, a woman slips in a pool of blood and starts crying hysterically before being killed. Severed limbs are picked up and thrown in heaps.
Not recommanded for children under 15. However, this is a true story and an important historical lesson about the horrors of the 20th century. Parents/educators can and should watch this film with (older) teens and try to contextualize the events.
