This film can be extremely scary and disturbing for some viewers
Incredibly intense and disturbing in places. For example, the main characters have a working car while most cars no longer work. Hordes of People attempt to use force to enter , and someone tries to drive away with the ten year old daughter of the main character. They are stopped and the girl is saved but they lose the car.
"War of the Worlds" is a very strong PG-13. The levels of death and terror throughout are high, with a pervasive sense of dread that is sustained for the majority of the film.
The scene where the aliens first attack and begin obliterating people with their weapons is very frightening.
Rachel frequently screams and cries in response to the frightening events happening around her.
Rachel sees a lot of dead bodies floating down a river. She understandably starts to panic and hyperventilate, until her father finds her and gets her out of there.
The aliens are pretty scary.
There is a frightening scene where a plane crashes into the house where the family is staying.
There are many people panicking which adds more to the already intense setting.
In one specific scene the alien comes into the cellar where Ray and Rachel are hiding. The alien comes very close to killing both and it is very intense and suspenseful.
While running away from danger, Ray and his ten-year-old daughter accept safety in a man's cellar. The homeowner's whole family has died. Later, after the man's sanity has become questionable, Ray comes upon the man telling the daughter "I used to have a daughter just like you. If something ever happens to your daddy, I will take care of you." At this, the father angrily walks up, makes his daughter walk away, and forcefully tells the homeowner "You have nothing to say to her! If you have any questions, or anything to say, you say it to me!"
