Realistic and rather infrequent violence. There are a number of killings. No gore, just a lot of blood when people get shot. Although the violence is infrequent, it can still be pretty brutal because of how realistic it is.

"The Irishman" is a violent movie but compared to other Martin Scorsese's gangster films like "Casino" and "Goodfellas", it is much tamer.

The overall tone of the film is incredibly bleak, even when the mood is lighter it's still faintly sorrowful, especially the last half hour.

The ending is very depressing.
