There are many fight scenes, close combats, and countless examples of weapon usage. However these aren't that brutal and there is no gore whatsoever. Only one being gets killed, though it's not a sentient character, just a large animal.

Another being has its tail broken off in a somewhat violent, but non gory scene.

In the opening scene, a large number of friendly beings are imprisoned by a dark force. This is the only truly scary scene in the whole movie. The villains were toned down considerably from their comic or book portrayals, and come off as barely more than easily beatable goofs.
